The picture book VOTE! by Eileen Christelow is a story for all ages. It is about how a mother runs for mayor of a city. The illustrations are not juvenile and include dialogue that complements the text. Two family dogs talk to one another throughout the book to engage the very young reader. I love that this book has a glossary and an illustrated timeline of voting rights from 1776 to 2002. Of course, the story will need to be supplemented with contemporary information and that will spark lively discussion.
